Rodney Broughton Jr. is in his first season as a graduate manager at Northwestern State after spending last season at the University of Mobile.

During the 2014-15 season, Broughton helped the Rams allow an average of just 62 points per game and earn numerous top-10 national defensive rankings. 

Broughton worked with both the varsity and junior varsity teams at Mobile where his duties also included recruiting, overseeing team academics, camps and organizing the program’s Alumni Day.

Before coaching at Mobile, Broughton spend two years coaching at Mary G. Montgomery High School in Semmes, Alabama. There Broughton was the head coach of the Vikings freshman team and a varsity assistant. 

Prior to his coaching career, Broughton earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Alabama.

He played basketball at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Alabama, after his high school playing career at John L. Leflore Magnet School in Mobile.

Broughton is a Mobile native and the son of Rodney and Diane Broughton.Â
