Scott Stoker

  • Title
    Head Coach
Northwestern State, 1991
36-33 (7th Season at NSU)

Instead of coming apart in the face of mind-blowing adversity, the Northwestern State football program has come together under Scott Stoker as he begins his seventh season as head coach at his beloved alma mater.
Last year's team faced the football version of "The Perfect Storm." Things that never happen, did. And they weren't good. But again and again, Stoker's Demons showed the heart of champions.
All three scholarship quarterbacks were knocked out of the same game, in the first half, at Nicholls State. Meanwhile, Nicholls tied an all-divisions college record with four interceptions returns for scores. The game was out of control by halftime. But it didn't dissolve into a slopfest; playing with a one-legged, immobile Drew Branch at quarterback, the Demons bonded and competed until the final horn, a small but not insignificant sign in a big loss.
