Matt Hartle

Matt Hartle is entering his second season on the Demon coaching staff.  He was named the inside receivers coach this past spring after spending the 2011 season as the offensive quality control assistant as well as the assistant running backs coach.  Before coming to NSU, Hartle had previously coached two seasons at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. He also worked for EPSN Radio doing color commentary for 5A Texas high school football game broadcasts.

Playing Experience: Played three seasons as tight end and deep snapper for the Texas Longhorns from 2006-2008.  During that time, the Longhorns compiled a 32-7 record and won three bowl games, including a BCS Fiesta Bowl win over Ohio State.  He also played on the Longhorns men’s volleyball team.  At Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, SC, playing for coaches Dickey Dingle and Bob Hayes, he was a three-year letterman and All-District performer at tight end and defensive end.

Personal: Hartle was born 8/5/82 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  His mother, Susan Hartle, is a retired flight attendant and lives on the Isle of Palms, South Carolina.  His father, Chris Hartle, is a former fighter pilot and retired airline pilot and lives in Mount Pleasant, S.C., with his wife Lynn.  Hartle has one sibling, his sister Blair, who lives with her husband in Summerville, SC.  Hartle received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UT in December 2008.  He enjoys spending time with family, golf, working out, and playing all sports.
