Playing Experience: A three-year starter as the deep snapper for LSU, Crappell had 39 starts in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He was a member of the 2007 BCS National Championship and Southeastern Conference championship team, along with now NSU head coach Bradley Dale Peveto and special teams coordinator Brendan Farrell. Crappell was a special teams captain and won the 2011 Jerry Stovall Special Teams Award for an LSU team that played in the BCS National Championship after winning the Southeastern Conference and the SEC West Division titles. He qualified for the Wild Tiger Club in 2009 and 2010. At Patterson High School, he played defensive end and was a deep snapper. He was all-district and all-parish for three years, from 2004-06, and won the team’s Captains’ Award in 2006. IN track and field, he made all-parish and all-district as a senior in 2007.
Personal: Born Feb. 13, 1988 in Franklin, La., his full name is Joseph Crappell III. He is the son of Joe and Alisa Crappell with two siblings, Garrett Turner and Ashley Blanchard.
