Coaching Experience: Jake Simon is in his third season as a member of the Demon coaching staff and, after spending the 2009 season as an administrative graduate assistant, took over the duties as the full-time running backs coach for the 2010 campaign. He brought along true freshmen D.J. Palmer, Rumeall Morris and Brant Legendre into prominent roles with the NSU offense, with Morris posting his first 100-yard rushing game in the pivotal 24-19 win at nationally-ranked Central Arkansas.

       

Playing Experience: Starting quarterback for three years for the McPherson Bulldogs from 2006-2008, playing alongside former Demon football staffer Jeremiah Fiscus, who played center until 2008 when he joined the NSU staff for a season. In his final college game, he threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns. Simon was also the starting QB at Independence (Kan.) Community College in 2005 after a redshirt year in 2004. Simon attended Flint Hills (Kan.) High School, starting all four seasons at QB.  He was a three-year All-State pick and played in the Eight-Man All-Star Game, while setting virtually every Eight-Man Football passing record in Kansas.  In his senior year, he threw for 28 touchdowns and 1,700 yards, and ran for 15 TD and over 800 yards.

       

Personal:  Age 26, born July 16, 1985 in El Dorado, Kansas. Son of Mike and Laureen Simon. Has two younger sisters, Brianne, Renee, and a younger brother, Barrett. His mother is a teacher and his father is a cattle rancher. He graduated from McPherson in biochemistry with a 3.6 grade point average. He was a student ambassador. He considered going into medicine but is now focusing on a coaching career. He enjoys working out and spending time with friends and family.
