Brad Bustle returns to a state where he both played and coached college football.
Bustle joined the Northwestern State staff as its offensive line coach in June, returning to Louisiana after a three-year detour to Hampton.
At Hampton, Bustle coached the Pirates' offensive line fro two seasons while serving as the run game coordinator. He helped Hampton rank second in the Coastal Athletic Association in rushing yards per game in 2024, averaging 195.8 per contest.
Under Bustle's tutelage, Tyler McDuffie II earned second-team All-CAA honors as Hampton increased its scoring by 6.3 points per game over the 2024 season. Bustle coached three all-conference linemen with the Pirates.
Prior to his three years at Hampton, Bustle spent the 2022 season at UL Lafayette as an offensive analyst who worked primarily with tight ends, two of whom earned All-Sun Belt honors. With Bustle on staff, the Ragin' Cajuns reached the 2022 Independence Bowl.
Bustle returned to his alma mater after spending the two seasons at Valparaiso, serving as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Under Bustle, who coached one all-conference offensive lineman at Valpo, the Beacons scored the third-most rushing touchdowns in a single season in school history and had the fifth-highest scoring total in program history.
Bustle came to Valparaiso after two seasons as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Holmes Community College in Mississippi. Bustle, who also served as the head strength coach at Holmes, coached an offensive line that helped Holmes lead the country in rushing in 2019 and finished third in 2018.Â
Under Bustle, Holmes produced three all-conference offensive linemen.
Bustle's first full-time coaching job came at Cumberland University where he spent five seasons as the offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator.
In that time, Cumberland ranked in the top 10 nationally in rushing and in fewest sacks allowed four times each. Bustle tutored eight all-conference offensive linemen and one All-American.
Bustle began his coaching career as a defensive line graduate assistant coach at Virginia Tech. In that time, the Hokies reached the ACC Championship Game, won the 2012 Russell Athletic Bowl and reached the 2011 Sugar Bowl.
