Allen Rudolph

Allen Rudolph joined the Demon football staff in January, and is in his 18th season of coaching college football with more than half those years spent in Louisiana. He played at Nicholls State and started his coaching career there. He has also coached at Louisiana-Monroe and Southeastern Louisiana, and has five years’ experience as an offensive coordinator, four of those at the FCS level at SLU and Samford.
       
For the past five years, he was offensive line coach at Southland and in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana. In the last two seasons Rudolph was the Lions’ offensive coordinator as the Lions had two of the most productive offensive seasons in school  history.
       
Last year, SLU averaged 402 yards  (fourth best in school history) and 29 points per game.  The Lions’ passing yards (3,170) and total offense (4,420) ranked third all-time at SLU.
       
In his first season directing the Southeastern offense, Rudolph guided the Lions to their sixth-best mark in total offense (364 ypg) in school history while totaling 4,000 yards of total offense.
       
One of his offensive linemen, 2010 senior tackle Kevin Hughes, ended last season with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams, while receiver Brandon Collins is a rookie with the Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
       
Prior to his arrival in Hammond, Rudolph spent two seasons (2005-06) at Samford in Birmingham.  Rudolph was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Bulldogs and was responsible for recruiting the northwest Alabama and northern Mississippi areas.
       
Prior to his time in Birmingham, he was the offensive line coach at East Mississippi Community College. In addition to his coaching duties at EMCC, Rudolph also served as the Director of the Campus Wellness Center.
       
In 2002 and 2003, he served on the staff at Louisiana Monroe as offensive line coach. Rudolph recruited prospects in south Mississippi and south Alabama.
       
Rudolph spent two seasons (2000-01) at Mississippi College before moving west along I-20 to Monroe. In addition to his duties as the Choctaws’ offensive line coach, Rudolph also served as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, while recruiting central Mississippi and central Alabama. Rudolph also was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 1999 before his stint at Mississippi College.
       
Rudolph got his start at another SLC rival, Nicholls State, where he coached from 1995-98. In his first three seasons with the Colonels, he coached the tight ends and tackles, before switching duties to running backs and tight ends, as well as coordinating the special teams in his final two seasons. During his stay in Thibodaux, Rudolph’s recruiting area included south Mississippi, south Alabama, south central Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle.
 
Playing Experience:  Rudolph played at Nicholls for four years (1989-93) and served as the team’s starting center for three seasons. He was one of the Colonels’ team captains in his junior and senior campaigns. Rudolph earned his bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Southern Mississippi.
       
Rudolph played for his father, Steve Rudolph, at East Central High School in Hurley, Miss.
 
Personal:  A native of Jackson, Miss., Rudolph and his wife, the former Nicole David, are the parents of two daughters, Abbey (10) and McKenzie (6). Born Feb. 10, 1971 in Jackson, Miss., his full name is Charles Allen Rudolph.
