Coaching Experience: At age 21, became the youngest offensive coordinator in the state. Took over a 1 – 9 team (West St. Mary High) and in one year’s time turned them into an offensive power house. In 2011, West St. Mary’s offense averaged 411.2 yards a game. His wide receiver led the entire state in receiving yards and catches, and set two national records in a 404-yard receiving yard game against Kaplan with five touchdown catches in a quarter and six touchdown catches in one half. His running back averaged 13.0 yards on 96 carries in Smith’s offense. Was an offensive assistant at Airline HS in Bossier City in 2009 after being a player-coach in 2008 at the University of New Orleans for the Privateers’ club team. He designed the offensive playbook.
Playing Experience: Played a year of club football at UNO after being part of a state semifinalist team in 2007 at Shreveport’s Calvary Baptist, which won the district title and had an unbeaten regular season.
Personal: Born March 6, 1989 in Shreveport. He is the son of Hobie Smith and Carolyn Smith. He has an older brother, Aaron, and an older sister, Sunnie. He earned a bachelor’s degree from ULL in behavioral science. Owns and operates Louisiana Sportsline.
