2016 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll

2017 Season:
• Appeared in 48 games with 44 starts at second base.
• led Northwestern State with seven stolen bases. 
• finished second on the team in hits (45) and multi-hit games (12) and third in batting average (.278) 
• hit safely in eight straight games from May 7-17, hitting .375 (12-for-32) in that span.
• went 3-for-4 with a double in a 9-3 loss at No. 8 LSU on May 16.
• went 4-for-6 and scored four runs in a 14-0 win against Mississippi Valley State on April 26, part of a two-game series in which he was 7-for-10 at the plate.
• strung together four straight multi-hit games from April 22-26.
• scored a run in five straight games from April 16-23.
• broke up Stephen F. Austin's no-hit bid with two outs in the top of the ninth, drilling an RBI double in a 7-2 loss on April 7.
• went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in an 11-2 win at ULM on April 4.
• was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs in an 11-9 win against Lamar on March 28.
• drove in three runs without a hit in a 9-5 win against Arkansas State on Feb. 25.
• went 2-for-4 in a 3-2, 10-inning loss to Cincinnati on opening night (Feb. 17). 

2016 Season:
• Appeared in 48 games, starting 35, in his first season at the Division I level.
• drew starts at second base and at third base and was involved in 30 of NSU’s school-record 71 double plays.
• ended season by hitting safely in four of his final five games, including a 2-for-2 performance off the bench against New Orleans in the SLC Tournament.
• put together a pair of three-game hitting streaks – from Feb. 28-March 5 and from May 15-19.
• cracked his first career home run in the series finale at Southern Miss on Feb. 28.
• enjoyed a stellar NSU debut, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI at Southern Miss on Feb. 26.

Prior to NSU:
• Played two seasons at Bossier Parish Community College.
• Dean’s List student who carried a 3.89 GPA overall and posted a 4.0 as a freshman.

High School:  
• Four-year letterman for coach Tim Hulett’s Eagles.
• helped lead Evangel to state championships as a sophomore and as a senior.
• earned Evangel’s Romy Cucjen Award, given to the player who personifies leadership, discipline and hard work.
• graduated with a 3.9 GPA.

Personal:  
• Born Dec. 6, 1994.
• son of Edie and Charles Goodwin.
• one brother, Caleb.
• business administration major who wants to play professional baseball and work in the business sector of the sports industry, owning multiple gym complexes.
• life’s ambition is to “honor God in everything I do; to enjoy each day and, one day, be able to provide for my family.”
