High School:
• Senior year of high school had a 5-3 record with a 1.3 ERA and was first team All-City and the Wendy’s Heisman Award winner.
• Also invited to pitch at the East-West All-Star game for Kentucky.
• His junior year posted a record of 6-1 with a 1.95 ERA with the post season honors of first team all-city.
• Lettered in baseball and basketball.
• Senior class President, Bob Brisbay Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence.
• Graduated with a 3.8 gpa.
• Coached by Chris Langston.
 
Personal:
• Son of Trent and Mary Schaftner.
• Has one brother, Trey, and one sister, Grace.
• He is majoring in Psychology with the intent of playing baseball as long as he can and possibly own a small business.
• His life’s ambition is to be remembered as someone who made people laugh, who worked hard, and to live his life as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
