After more than a year as an assistant, including an impactful role overseeing strength and conditioning for the Demon baseball program, Evan Coachman was promoted to head strength and conditioning coach in January 2014.
 
Since May 2012, Coachman and his staff have played pivotal parts in developing NSU student-athletes who have collected Southland Conference championships in men’s and women’s basketball, softball and tennis. 
 
Coachman was a football and strength & conditioning coach for 17 months at his alma mater, where he developed all-conference players at tight end and wide receiver. He developed and managed the in-season workouts for the football team. From 2009-2012, he was also an assistant strength & conditioning coordinator for Athlete’s Performance Course in Allen, Texas, where he developed workout routines for baseball, softball, football and volleyball competitors ages 10-18, and ran workouts for up to 50 athletes simultaneously.  Coachman is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and by USA Weighlifting.
 
At Austin College from 2007-10, Coachman played receiver and free safety. He was a preseason All-American as a senior. He was all-conference at receiver as a sophomore, then at free safety as a junior and senior. He was elected to the Leadership Council by his peers. At Frisco High School, he had a 3.3 GPA and was an all-district football player in his last two seasons.
 
Coachman had a 3.5 GPA in graduate school at Austin College, earning his master’s in education. As an undergraduate, he earned a bachelor’s in history and was secretary and vice president of Phi Sigma Alpha fraternity.
