Andy Morgan

Andy Morgan returns to Northwestern State for his second season as an assistant coach.  His primary duties include coaching infielders and hitters and recuriting coordiantor. 

Morgan, who was named the 2010 Jayhawk East Coach of the Year and guided his teams to its most wins in back-to-back seasons in school history, joined Northwestern State baseball staff as an assistant coach in 2012.


In 2011, Morgan directed Coffeyville Community College squad to a 27-31 campaign and a second place finish at the Liberal Super Regional.

 In the last two seasons, the Ravens won 56 games, the most wins in back-to-back seasons in school history. Coffeyville also had five sophomores transfer on to NCAA Division I programs under his leadership.
 
In his second season as head coach in 2010, Morgan was named Jayhawk East Coach of the Year after leading Coffeyville to a third place finish in the Jayhawk East Division - the best ever conference finish for Coffeyville baseball.  

In addition to a 21-15 conference mark, Coffeyville finished the year 29-32 overall and setting a school record for most wins in a season and placed second in the sub-region baseball tournament. The team also set school records for 35 team/individual offensive/pitching categories.
 
In his first year as head coach, Morgan and the Ravens posted a respectable 15-21 conference record in the Jayhawk Conference East and qualified for the Region 6 playoffs despite losing a preseason All-American pitcher and top hitter due to injuries.
 
Morgan helped develop 20 players have moved on to four-year institutions to continue their education and playing careers and coached six players who would earn postseason awards while one would go on to earn NJCAA All American.
 
As an assistant, Morgan helped Coffeyville advance to postseason play in both of his seasons. His primary responsibilities included recruiting coordinator, hitting coach, and in charge of the infielders.
 
Academically, Coffeyville has improved in the classroom as well since Morgan’s arrival. Four players were named NJCAA Distinguished Academic All–Americans while six earned NJCAA Academic All–Americans.
 
Morgan has a proven track record of developing players. During a four year span with the Kansas City Sluggers, a nationally known high school baseball academy, Morgan saw 11 players selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, 14 of his players sign with Division I programs, and seven others with Division II teams.
 
In the summers of 2008 and 2010, Morgan coached for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League and worked on a daily basis with some of the best amateur players in the country while helping direct the Commodores to a second place finish in the West Division and a second straight appearance in the league playoffs.
 
Morgan preceded his coaching success with accomplishments of his own as a player. At Cowley County Community College, Morgan played the middle infield for the 2001 Jayhawk East and Region VI Champions that finished third in the nation at the Junior College World Series.
 
Following his time at Cowley, Morgan was a two time All–Conference selection and team captain at Park University in Parkville, Missouri, where he graduated from in bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.
 
Originally from Manhattan, Kansas, Morgan was a 2000 graduate of Manhattan High School. He is married to Jennifer Lynn (Brown) of Harrah, Okla.
