Johnnie Emmons Academic Center
The Johnnie Emmons Academic Center is a space specifically designed for student-athletes to improve their academic performance.
The Academic Center proudly runs on a program called GradesFirst. The Academic Center recently underwent renovation to enhance the space after the department received the Accelerating Academic Success Program grant in July 2014. Renovation was completed in November 2015 and Academic Center is now a 48 station computer lab that features 5 additional stations with power source for laptop plug-in. in addition, there is the newly constructed tutoring and career center designed to give a quite working area for tutoring and career development appointments. The space also holds 2 separate "quite study rooms".
Other renovations included upgraded Wi-Fi coverage, new furniture and wall graphics for visual enhancement, and electronic key-card access. With the electronic access, students are able to access the Academic Center after hours by simply using their student ID card. Students are free to use the lab as they see fit.
