N-Club Hall of Fame
Qualifications and Criteria


Purpose: To recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves in the field of intercollegiate athletics at Northwestern State, either by virtue of their performances on athletic teams representing the university, or by meritorious efforts on behalf of the athletics program or the university (Distinguished Service Candidates).

Qualifications:
  1. The nominee must be of good character and have demonstrated commendable citizenship both during their career as a Northwestern State student-athlete and since leaving the university.
  2. To be eligible for a nomination, an individual's last year of competition must have occurred at least ten (10) years prior to being nominated.
  3. For athletic administrators, coaches and other individuals to be eligible, they must be retired or have left their position at Northwestern State for at least five (5) years. If the individual is over 60 years of age, they can be nominated without a waiting period, regardless if they are still actively working for Northwestern State.
  4. Individuals can be selected posthumously and this qualification would supercede guidelines outlined in qualification number 2.


Hall of Fame Criteria:
1. Individual Athletic Accomplishments
A. Outstanding statistical achievements
B. School records (single game, season, or individual career)
C. Post-season recognition (All-Conference, All-State, All-American)
D. Other criteria as determined by the nomination committee

2. Contributions to Team Success
A. Conference championships
B. Post-season appearances
C. Other (i.e. winning streaks, Top 25, rankings, etc.)

3. Leadership Abilities as a Student-Athlete
A. Within the team (i.e. Captain)
B. Within the department (i.e. Student-Athlete Advisory Council, NCAA Leadership Conference, etc.)

4. Academic Achievement (Academic All-Conference, NSU Dean's List, Academic All-American)

5. Community Involvement and Citizenship
A. As a NSU student-athlete (i.e. Student-Athlete Advisory Council activities, team community projects)
B. Contributions made subsequent to leaving NSU (Charitable organizations, civic clubs, etc.)

Nominations are accepted throughout the year and are open to the general public. However, nominations will only be listed on the annual Hall of Fame ballot (for voting) if the N-Club Committee agrees that at least 3 of the 5 criteria are met.  Those nominees that make it on the ballot will remain on the ballot for up to seven (7) years at which point, if not selected for the Hall of Fame, will be removed from the ballot.

Hall of Fame voting will take place in May of each year, and The Hall of Fame ceremony is held the morning of Homecoming. Hall of Fame selection is based on a combination of votes received from N-Club Members and votes from the N-Club Hall of Fame committee. The Hall of Fame committee makes the ultimate decision on selections.

Distinguished Service Criteria:
1. Meritorious efforts on behalf of NSU Athletics
A. As a current or former NSU staff member or coach 
B. As a public servant or advocate (i.e. elected officials)
C. As an alumnus, booster, or donor 
D. As a pioneer in one's sport or area of expertise

2. Meritorious service to benefit NSU Athletics
A. As a volunteer or ad-hoc committee member
B. As a Demons Unlimited Foundation Board Member and/or donor either through volunteerism/advising or charitable contributions to NSU Athletics
