 Enhanced Academic Program Brochure

Mission:  The purpose of the Enhanced Academic Program is to guide student-athletes who are in need of additional academic support toward successfully achieving academic independence.

The Enhanced Academic Program (EAP) is a program, launched in Fall 2008, that is designed to assist those student-athletes that are underprepared for college, and therefore, have a high risk of never meeting graduation.  The aim of the program is to educate those student-athletes on different study skills, time management skills, and adjusting to college expectations to help them become academically independent.  This education is done through one-on-one weekly or bi-weekly meetings with one of the EAP advisors, Carrie Crowell or Cary Bruno.  In these meetings, the EAP advisor and the student-athlete will discuss his/her classes, upcoming assignments, due dates, study skills, and organize tutor appointments, as needed.

Any student-athlete who is enrolled in the EAP will fall into one or two categories: Red or Yellow. A ndy student-athlete in the Red group will meet with Carrie Crowell EVERY week, whereas any student-athlete in the Yellow group will meet with Cary Bruno EVERY OTHER week.  the goal of the Enhanced Academic Program is to have student-athletes naturally progress througth the program until they are academically independent.

Red Group → Yellow Group → Academically Independent

"EAP is a great program for those who are in need of a little help.  I am very appreciative of all the support and guidance I received.  From being in this program.  I learned that success comes with hard work.  It is never given to anyone, only those who work for it."
 - Dennis Clark, former Football EAP student

"EAP has been tremendously helpful, not only in helping our student athletes who are strugging in the classroom, but also teaching them the necessary skills and study habits that allows them to be successful upon completion of the program."
 - Assistant Coach Caitlin Noble, NSU Softball

Trailblazer Award

The Trailblazer Award is an award that is specifically for student-athletes enrolled in the Enhanced Academic Program.  The award is given out at the annual academic banquet to the student-athlete who has made his/her own path to be successful.  A trailblazer is one who, despite all odds and adversities, chooses to carve a new path for himself, when it is easier to go another way. A  trailblazer preserves and makes a way for others like him/her to follow, on a different, per personalized road to success.
