CHAMPS/NCAA Life Skills

Program Description
Northwestern State University
is an established member of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. This program is designed to foster complete growth and personal development of the student-athlete. Northwestern State offers a student-athlete orientation class "Life Skills for Student-athletes" which provides our student-athletes immediate information needed for success in college. Northwestern State Life Skills also offers a wide range of educational seminars and programs available for the entire student athlete community.

How it Works
By focusing on the individual student athletes skills and personal development, the CHAMPS/ Life Skills Program assists the student athletes with meeting their personal goals and provides them with the necessary information that enhances their growth while in college, in order to be prepared for life after college.

The CHAMPS/ Life Skills Program is able to serve as a bridge to life after college by successfully focusing on five areas of development:

Athletic Development
Community Service Commitment
Personal Development
Career Development
