th at the SLC Championships in the shot (48-1.75) … added an 11
th-place effort in the discus (142-1) … personal best in the shot was 49-8.5 to place eighth at Texas State … PR in the discus came in at 158-4 to finish fifth at NSU.
2022 Indoor Season: Joined the team in time to compete at the SLC Indoor Championships, placing 10
th in the shot (47-5.25).
2021 Outdoor Season: Did not compete with regular season football occurring in the spring.

High School: Decorated track and field athlete has won three indoor state championships in the shot put, three discus state championships and two outdoor shot put titles at Class 4A North DeSoto High ... added one outdoor shot put runner-up finish … honor roll student has a 3.0 grade point average … also played football for the regional power Griffins for four seasons ... named to the Shreveport Times All-Area Team and was a first-team all-parish and all-district pick as a senior after recording 62 tackles, 12 for loss, and four sacks … had five career blocked kicks and played in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star Game following his senior year … was a first-team all-state selection by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association as a junior and also was named to the Shreveport Times All-Area Team and first-team all-parish and all-district … first-team all-parish and all-district pick as a sophomore … was featured on the cover of Louisiana Football Magazine prior to his senior year.
Personal: Son of Valerie and Johnny Mitchell Sr. … has four sisters – Thermessia Jones, Jasmine Bailey, Jerwanika Mitchell and Jade Mitchell – and one brother, Johnny Letron Mitchell … plans to major in health and human performance … life’s ambition is “to become one of the best D-line coaches there is, to have a supportive family of my own and to go pro in the NFL and, eventually, coach in the NFL.”
