2019 Cross Country (junior): Best finish occurred at the SFA Home Opener where he finished 10th (17:39.3, 5K) … crossed 38th at the Mississippi College Invitational (26:43.6, 8K) before taking 83rd at the Southland Conference Championships (27:15.1, 8K) … earned Southland Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition.

2018 Cross Country (sophomore): Best finish occurred at the McNeese XC Season Opener where he crossed 11th (12:52, 4k) … boasted a 52nd-place finish at the Southland Conference Championships (29:13.1, 8K) … placed 13th at the LaTech Mook 4 Invitational (22:03.5, 4M) and 21st at the Mississippi College Invitational (26:35.0, 8K).

Before NSU: Attended the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina…Ran track and cross country for the Trojans…Placed first in the Distance medley relay at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Personal: Mother Andrea Sonnenwald-Gerland is a teacher…Father Achim Gerland is a principal… older sisters of Julia and Katja …plans to pursue a masters degree in sport management and work for the German national track and field team.
