2021 Outdoor Season: Did not compete.

2021 Indoor Season: Ran a personal-best 8:46.82 in the 3000 meters at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships (24^th) … finished 13^th in the mile with a 4.25.03 … at the LSU Louisiana Invite, earned a career-best time 4:23.18 in the mile, placing fifth.  

2020 Outdoor Season: Canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic.

2020 Indoor Season: Competed in the mile and distance medley relay ... ran his fastest time at the Houston G5-Super 22 Invitational with a time of 4:24.07 finishing 26th overall ... highest finish in the distance came at the LSU Purple Tiger running a 4:32.35 ... competed in the DMR twice during the season with the best time coming at the Southland Conference Championship at 10:17.08 along with Payten Vidourek, Brad Alexander and Mike Alukunyang.

2019 Outdoor Season: Competed in the 3000 and 5000 meters as well as the 3000 meter steeplechase and the 4x800 meter relay... placed first in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational (9:46.58) and third at the LSU Alumni Gold with a personal best 9:26:39... part of the 4x800 meter relay team that placed third at the McNeese State Cowboy Relays (8:10.00).

2019 Indoor Season: Competed in the mile and 3000 meters as well as the distance medley relay... placed fifth in the mile at the Sooner Challenge with a personal best 4:27.79... part of the distance medley relay team that placed eighth at the Southland Conference Championship (10:24.14) and first at the LSU Twillight (10:36.43).

Before NSU: Attended the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina…Ran track and cross country for the Trojans…Placed first in the Distance medley relay at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Personal: Mother Andrea Sonnenwald-Gerland is a teacher…Father Achim Gerland is a principal… older sisters of Julia and Katja …plans to pursue a masters degree in sport management and work for the German national track and field team.
