2016 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll

2017 Season:
• Appeared in 15 games, starting 5 in his senior season.
• struck out four in four innings of relief at No. 8 LSU on May 16.
• tied a career high with six strikeouts in three innings of relief in a 5-4 loss to No. 23 McNeese on April 23.
• allowed five hits and one run in five innings to earn his first win of the season in a 16-1 victory against Prairie View A&M on April 18.
• allowed one run in three innings of relief in a 3-2 opening-night loss to Cincinnati on Feb. 17.

2016 Season:
• Appeared in 13 games, starting 5 as NSU’s primary midweek starter.
• worked three scoreless relief appearances that totaled 5 1-3 innings. 
• struck out both batters he faced at Central Arkansas on April 23. 
• earned the win in NSU’s rain-shortened victory at UL Monroe on March 30, tossing four innings, striking out three.
• tossed two innings, allowing one run, to earn the save against CSU Bakersfield on March 6.
• earned the save in his collegiate debut, throwing four scoreless innings with a career-best six strikeouts against Alabama State on Feb. 20.

Prior to NSU: 
• Played two seasons at Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
• helped lead NTCC to the regional quarterfinals.
• went 4-2 in 11 appearances – seven starts – with a 4.93 ERA as a sophomore.
• graduated with a 3.5 GPA.

High School:  
• Lettered two seasons in baseball for coach Tom McPherson’s Tigers.
• lettered one season in football for coaches Gary Joseph and B.J. Gotte.
• football team was 16-0 and won Texas state title and national title his senior season.
• named academic all-state and graduated with a 3.9 GPA.

Personal:  
• Born May 4, 1995.
• son of Dan and Linda Winders.
• majoring in engineering.
• want to continue playing baseball or become an engineer after graduation.
