NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State volleyball's Jade Longlad earned Southland Conference Setter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Longlad, a senior, helped the Demons (8-7) to a 3-1 record this week highlighted by wins over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, Murray State on Friday and The Citadel on Saturday morning before losing to Troy in the second game Saturday afternoon.

While the loss ended NSU's seven-game winning streak, Longlad was phenomenal in all four matches last week. A Calgary, Alberta, Canada, native, Longlad had 131 assists for the week (9.35 per set).

"Well deserved," said Demon head coach Ben Kaszeta. "The leadership she has shown over the last couple of weeks has been awesome. She is putting her hitters in great position to be successful."

Longlad recorded 24 assists against Louisiana Tech in three sets, 39 against Murray State in four sets, 40 against The Citadel in four sets and 28 in three sets against Troy. She also leads the Southland with 452 assists and ranks 12^th in the country.

The Demons begin Southland play later this week. NSU plays on the road against Houston Christian (2-10) Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in Houston. Then, the Demons head west to San Antonio to take on the UIW Cardinals at 1 p.m. Saturday.
