NATCHITOCHES – The 2026 Northwestern State baseball team's success off the field has been recognized.
 
The Demons have been honored with the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award
 
The award, which is presented by Sports Attack, is given to ABCA member programs that posted a team cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year and whose head coach is an ABCA member.  The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Awards are presented to both college and high school programs who meet the above criteria.
 
The Demons posted a 3.39 team grade point average across the 2025-26 academic year with 32 players being named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who produce at least a 3.0 GPA in their semester of competition. Of those 32 players, nine posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.
 
Five Demon players were named to the Academic All-Southland Conference Team as well while Demon pitcher JC Acosta was named the 2025-26 male winner of the Southland Conference's FL McDonald Postgraduate Scholarship, which is presented to the SLC graduating student-athlete with the highest GPA.
