HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Northwestern State volleyball team hits the road again this weekend for the Golden Eagle Classic at the University of Southern Miss Friday and Saturday.

The Demons (1-10) will take on Jackson State (0-8) Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday, NSU will play a pair of matches against host team Southern Miss (5-3) at noon before taking on Grambling (0-7) at 3 p.m.

"We have to make sure we play with passion this weekend," said Demon head coach Ben Kaszeta. "When we play with it, good things come of it. We could see some of the rewards for looking at the stats from last weekend. We have preached to be able to play with our emotions under control and we have succeeded but need to continue it."

While the Demons continue to move towards the results they want, Kaszeta made it clear that there is a way the team can get to that point.

"We need to focus on the process of things," said Kaszeta. "If we keep putting 'win' as the most important thing then everyone starts stressing themselves out over it. The wins will come but the process of getting to that point is the part we are concerned of."

The Demons enter the weekend led by freshman Elsie Sanchez Oliver with 94 kills while redshirt freshman Reagan Hamm leads the way with 165 assists. Emmarie McFarland has 132 digs to lead the defense while Samaya Wesson has 39 blocks.

Fans can follow live stats of all three matches while Saturday's contest against Southern Miss will be on ESPN plus.
