NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The highly-anticipated Southland Conference matchup between Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin will have to wait two extra weeks.
The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed and will now take place on April 19, at 11 a.m.
This contest carries significant weight in the SLC standings, as both teams have been among the league's top contenders.
Northwestern State (6-6, 6-0) remains undefeated in conference play and is coming off a dominant 6-1 victory over Lamar.
The Lady Demons have displayed depth and resilience throughout the season, led by standout performances from players such as
Sofi Garcia, who secured a flawless 6-0, 6-0 singles win in their last match, and
Ayu Ishibashi, who continues to shine in both singles and doubles play.
Stephen F. Austin (11-6, 5-1) has also been a force in the Southland, most recently securing a 7-0 win over Prairie View A&M.
With both teams eyeing the top spot in the standings, this rescheduled match could play a crucial role in determining the regular season champion.
With the new date set, both teams will have additional time to prepare for what is expected to be one of the most competitive matches of the season. The Lady Demons now shift their focus to a rescheduled game against LSU-Shreveport on Monday at 2 p.m.
