NATCHITOCHES—Another personal best helped
Maygan Shaw be named the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Wednesday.
Shaw, a sprinter from Pineville, was one of many Northwestern State athletes to post a personal best last time out at the Lurline Hamilton Invitational, taking home the event crown in the 400-meter dash (52.33) and as part of the 4x400 relay (3:36.03) and second as a member of the 4x100 relay team (45.06).
Shaw not only leads the conference in the 400 and as a member of both the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 teams, but she also ranks third in the NCAA in the 400, seventh in the NCAA in the 4x400 and 25th in the NCAA in the 4x100 relay.
The other time she earned the conference weekly award this season was the first indoor award of the season, as she ran a 23.90 in the 200, 54.26 in the 400 and 3:40.74 as a member of the 4x400 relay team at the Corky Classic, all three marks led the conference up to that point.
Shaw and Northwestern State make its annual trip to the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational for three-day meets, beginning Thursday.
