NATCHITOCHES – The renovation of Brown-Stroud Field has added another piece.
The home of Northwestern State baseball will have a new digital LED video scoreboard for the upcoming 2025 season thanks to a $343,000 donation from BOM Bank.
"This donation from BOM has put an added flourish on our vision of making Brown-Stroud Field into the premier baseball venue in the Southland Conference," Director of Athletics
Kevin Bostian said. "BOM has a long history of generosity and philanthropy with Northwestern State Athletics, and this gift is an extension of that relationship. We are grateful for BOM's support and for helping add to the tremendous gameday atmosphere at Brown-Stroud Field. It also aligns with our mission of improving all of our athletic facilities, an area where we have made great strides in the past 18 to 24 months."
The new scoreboard, which will be produced by Watchfire, measures 17 feet by 40 feet and will replace the current board, located beyond the right-field wall at Brown-Stroud Field. An arch with the BOM logo will adorn the top of the structure.
The addition of the new scoreboard joins the new PIVOT no-infill playing surface – the first of its kind in the United States -- and outfield wall that were completed in the fall. It also follows upgrades to the lighting at both Turpin Stadium and Prather Coliseum, the construction of the David and Sherry Morgan Health Performance Center and the new turf and light installation at the softball complex as either recent or ongoing construction projects in the athletic footprint.
The installation of the turf fields at both baseball and softball as well as the softball lighting project and the new outfield wall at Brown-Stroud Field came via a $1.978 million private donation from the Thornton family of Natchitoches.
In addition to its sponsorship efforts, BOM is the official bank of Northwestern State University.
BOM President and CEO Ken Hale stated: "Our bank believes in building strong communities, and supporting our local college baseball program is one way we can invest in the next generation. We're proud to champion the dedication and teamwork these athletes bring to the field. We are proud to be the official bank of Northwestern State University."
Northwestern State opens its 2025 season at home against Central Arkansas on Feb. 14. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
