NATCHITOCHES—Following a stellar performance at the LSU Twilight, Bernesha Knowles was honored by the Southland Conference.

Knowles, a senior from The Bahamas, took home the SLC Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

The senior tossed a personal-best throw of 56-7.25 at the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge in the weight throw to take home the top spot in the event.

That mark put her in fourth place in the SLC in the women's weight throw and the top toss among Northwestern State athletes.

Knowles joins Maygan Shaw and Vincente Graiani as Northwestern State performers to take home a conference weekly award this season, as the sprinters both took home the award the first week of the indoor season.

Knowles aims to help lead the Lady Demons to their third consecutive SLC indoor championship in Birmingham, starting Sunday.
