NATCHITOCHES, La. – The Northwestern State Demons host the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Saturday at 11 a.m. at Prather Coliseum in Southland Conference volleyball action for 'Fork Cancer' promotion and Alumni weekend.

Past Demon volleyball players are encouraged to attend the alumni weekend, and fans can wear pink in support of the fight against cancer.

The Demons (1-22, 0-9 SLC) are coming off a home loss Thursday night to the Lamar Cardinals (13-11, 6-3 SLC) in three sets. Despite the loss, NSU's Samaya Wesson recorded her 300th career and 200th career block. NSU's Olivia Bush also had a big night as she had a career-high nine kills and eight digs to lead the Demons.

Despite the loss, Demon head coach Ben Kaszeta continues to see improvements game-by-game with his team.

"We really are starting to extend points a lot more," said Kaszeta. "We are slowing the game down which is allowing us to get better swings and put more pressure on our opponents."

The Lumberjacks (13-7, 8-1 SLC) defeated East Texas A&M (6-14, 4-5 SLC) in straight sets Thursday night. SFA's only conference loss came last Saturday at home to the University of Incarnate Word (10-11, 6-3 SLC) in five sets.

SFA not only enters Saturday's match tied with UT-Rio Grande Valley (13-7, 8-1 SLC) a top the Southland Standings. They also lead the league in points per set (17.80), assists (922) and aces (145).

The Lumberjacks are led by sophomore Katherine Holman offensively with 225 kills for the season. The Demons are paced by senior Deja Benjamin with 163 kills.
