CONWAY, Ark. – The impressive outing this weekend continued for the Northwestern State tennis team on the final day in the UCA Invitational, as three Lady Demons win their final rounds.

"We are so close to where we want to be," head coach Marcos Morelli said. "Tennis is easier and simpler than they think. When they did the right things, they were successful."

Junior transfer Zoi Spyrou continued her dominance on Sunday with a win against the University of Central Arkansas' Fukushima 6-1, 6-3.

Sophomore Honoka Umeda stayed hot Sunday beating UCA's Konomi Miyakawa 7-6(2), 6-3.

Sophomore Maria Farina also won in her singles match against UCA's Ting-An Chen in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Pika Doberlet lost in her singles match to Austin Peay State's Yu-Hua Cheng 6-4, 6-1.

Farina and Doberlet took the court together in doubles in the second round, beating Oral Robert's Abby Wise and Annelise Deer 6-0. The pair lost to APSU's Pauline Bruns and Luca Bohlen 6-2 in the final round.

The tandem of Spyrou and Umeda lost both their doubles matches Sunday. They fell in the second round to APSU's Sophia Baranov and Denise Torrealba 6-3, and third round to Arkansas State's Anna Grigoreva and Lily Cvanciger 6-3.

The Lady Demons return home for the Axsom Air Lady Demon Classic, starting Friday.
