NATCHITOCHES – There has been no one more synonymous with Northwestern State volleyball across the past 20 years than Stacey Aldredge.
She had a record-setting playing career that included multiple all-conference selections and individual honors, a conference tournament championship, numerous program records that still stand today and a enjoyed a successful seven-year stint as assistant coach.
No one has had a greater impact on NSU volleyball than Aldredge who will be named the Exchange Bank and Trust Demon Great of the Game during Saturday's 6 p.m. game with Weber State.
Aldredge was a three-time all-conference player and two-time member of the Southland all-academic team. She ranks in the top 10 in NSU's single-season records 11 times across six offensive categories and in the top 10 in seven career categories. She holds the career kills record at Northwestern with 1,318 and is the only player in program history to have two different seasons rank in the top 10 in kills.
She is one of just four players to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs at NSU, with more than 1,300 of each, more than any of the other three players in both categories.
Following her illustrious playing career Aldredge stepped into the coaching ranks immediately, and joined head coach
Sean Kiracofe on staff prior to the 2017 season.
She helped tutor players like Hannah Brister that set the single-season kills record in 2019, becoming the first player to reach 500 for a season and earn NSU's first Southland Player of the Year honor.
Much like she was as a player, Aldredge also helped guide all-around, six-rotation Demon linchpin Alexis Warren to a 1,000-kill, 1,000-dig career over the final three seasons of her time. Like Warren,
Symone Wesley's offense and defense shined under Aldredge's guidance helping her to newcomer of the year status in 2021 and the most digs in a single season by an outside hitter in the country and NSU history in 2022.
Teresa Garza was the eighth person to have a 300-kill, 300-dig season in program history in 2023, something Aldredge accomplished twice in her first two seasons as a Demon and the only person thus far to do it in consecutive seasons.
This past December, Aldredge was named to volleyballmag.com's "College Coaching Hotshots Under for 40" list for 2023. She was one of 48 coaches across all divisions of the NCAA in men's and women's volleyball and beach volleyball to be named to the list.
The Exchange Bank and Trust Demon Great of the Game program is in its second decade of honoring former Northwestern State student-athletes and staff members. Exchange Bank and Trust has been a key supporter of NSU Athletics throughout its long history as the oldest financial institution in Louisiana.
