NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State was back in action on Sunday for the championship and final day of the Lady Demon Invitational Tournament with veterans Tjasa Klevisar and Maria Farina winning their respective finals. 

Klevisar began her day with a dominating victory against Tyler Junior College's Candy Wai, 6-3, 6-3, winning the consolation finals in the Purples Singles Draw. 

Farina joined the action, winning her consolation championship in the Orange Singles Draw against TJCs Alix Dol, 6-1, 6-0. 

NSU's Honoka Umeda won her third-place drawing. In an intense match, Umeda beat UL Lafayette player Jenaila Prulla 7-5, 7-6(1).  

On the doubles court, the Demon pair of Kleivsar and Zoi Spyrou captured the Purple Doubles Draw Championship, taking down the TJC duo of Candy Wai and Amelia Devlin 6-4. The win came after a close 7-5 battle with conference foes Salmone Fluri and Erica Hagi of McNeese in the semis. 

Honoka Umeda and Valeria Ortega also played for the championship in the Grey Doubles Draw after defeating Mariia Iordanova (UL Monroe) and Natalia Garcia (Tyler Junior College), 6-0, but UL Lafayette's Nina Krecklenberg and Karolina Skowronska got the best of the Demon duo with a 6-1 final.  

Maria Farina and Pika Doberlet continued the Demon's hot streak with a win against Vanja Vado and Camila Molina (UL Monroe), 7-6(5) to advance to the consolation finals. They were able to carry the momentum from the close semifinal win to another win, taking down the Ragin' Cajun pairing of Angelique Berrat and Ana Vaquero, 7-5, to win their finals for the Demons.  

"I think the second day was better than the first one, which is good," head coach Marcos Morelli explained. "All the girls have things to work on. Next weekend is a great opportunity to keep improving on the things they need to improve on." 

The Lady Demons continue their fall season this weekend when they head to North Texas for the Diving Eagle Invite.
