NATCHITOCHES – Conference champions past and present, all-conference performers on the field and in the classroom and school record holders highlighted the 58 current and former Northwestern State student-athletes and staff members who collected their undergraduate and graduate degrees across Wednesday and Thursday inside Prather Coliseum.

The two-time Southland Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field champion produced five graduates, including sprinter Lynell Washington, a 12-time medalist in Southland Conference meets.

Joining Washington (criminal justice) as title winners who earned degrees in the Spring 2024 semester are pole vaulters Annemarie Broussard (master's in health and human performance, five-time SLC medalist and school record holder) and Madison Brown (health and exercise science, 2023 SLC Outdoor champion), javelin thrower Ashley Duffus (communication, 2023 SLC Outdoor bronze medalist) and thrower Deonmonique Granville (master's in health and human performance).

Seven current or former Lady Demons track and field student-athletes picked up degrees while six members or former members of the men's track and field team also graduated – including 2022 SLC Outdoor pole vault champion Hayden Barrios (business administration) and Claudasha Watson (master's in psychology), who was part of the 2022 4x100 relay team that captured the outdoor title.

Of the 48 undergraduate degrees conferred on NSU student-athletes and staff members, 30 graduated with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Included in softball's single-team high 10 graduates were 2022 first-team Academic All-Southland Conference and 2022 first-team All-SLC selection Laney Roos (general studies), who owns top-10 program career marks in walks (66) and on-base percentage (.390), and Tristin Court, a third-team all-conference pick in 2022 whose 15 doubles in 2024 place her in the single-season top 10.

Among the graduates who earned All-Southland Conference honors in their athletic careers are baseball catcher Bo Willis (first team 2022), soccer midfielder Kyle Nolen (first team 2021) and volleyball outside hitter Brea Burrell (third team, 2021) and softball's Taylor Williams (third team, 2022).

Joining the members of the track and field team as championship-winning graduates were a pair of former women's basketball players who picked up their master's degrees after being part of the 2015 Southland Conference Tournament title winners that gave NSU back-to-back league tournament crowns.

Both Meghan Cross (master of science in nursing) and Libba Gilliam (master of science in clinical psychology) completed their post-graduate degrees this spring, returning to campus after earlier completing their undergraduate degrees at NSU.
