HAMMOND – After a challenging weekend at McNeese, the Northwestern State tennis team aims to bounce back when it continues its lengthy road trip.
The Lady Demons (8-6, 1-2) head to Southeastern on Saturday at 11 a.m. to continue conference play.
Honoka Umeda, freshman from Kumamoto, Japan, has put up a 9-1 singles record on the season competing primarily at the back of the lineup.
In her second season as a Lady Demon, Sofi Garcia has put up a dominant performance in singles.
Garcia has a 10-3 singles record, with wins against Lamar and McNeese.
Southeastern (7-9, 0-3) is coming off a 4-0 non-conference win against St. Thomas.
The Lady Lions are led by Alba Perez.
Perez, a senior from Valencia, Spain, competes in the No. 1 position and has wins against Southern and Dillard.
Kate Oborina, a junior for the Lady Lions, has a 6-2 singles record on the season.
NSU leads the overall series against Southeastern 30-9 and has won 12 matchups in a row.
The Lady Demons finish their string of road games with visits to New Orleans and Nicholls April 6 and 8 before returning home April 13 for their last regular season matchup against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.
