BEAUMONT, Texas - The Northwestern State tennis team aims to finish the fall season strong at the Joy Pyburn Invitational.
The tournament begins Friday and runs through Sunday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the campus of Lamar.
After a strong outing at the Conference Masters, head coach
Marcos Morelli believes this team succeeded a ton during these fall tournament runs.
"We are in a great place; culture is great, and the athletes are putting in the work," says coach Morelli. "I am excited to see what this weekend brings and for the season to start in January."
Six Lady Demons are making the trip: juniors
Sofi Garcia and
Zoi Spyrou, sophomores
Maria Farina and
Honoka Umeda, and freshmen
Pika Doberlet and
Valeria Ortega.
Umeda recorded a strong showing last time out, making a run in the SLC Masters tournament to the championship battle against the UIW's Sofia Salcedo.
Following the meet, the team prepares for the start of the spring season in January.
