HAMMOND – Honoka Umeda fell in straight sets as Northwestern State wrapped up its appearance in the SLC Conference Masters.
 
Umeda, a sophomore, matched up against UIW's Sofia Salcedo for the championship of the masters tournament, where she lost to Salcedo 6-2, 7-6.
 
"(This tournament) was a good opportunity," says head coach Marcos Morelli. "It was good for us to realize they are doing the right things."
 
The Lady Demons finish up the fall season next weekend as they head to Lamar for the Joy Pyburn Invitational starting on Nov. 1.
