HAMMOND - The sophomore keeps surging in Southeastern!
Honoka Umeda showed up and showed out on Saturday, winning the semifinals against the No. 2 seeded Felicia Back of Stephen F. Austin.
"She is a true Demon," says head coach Marcos Morelli. "She is playing with courage and determination."
Umeda, the No. 3 seed in the women's singles bracket, started the tournament with a bye and a win against McNeese's Salome Fluri, setting up a match with No. 2 Back of SFA. Umeda went on to win the set 7-6, 6-4.
The Demons will watch their teammate in the Singles Championship on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
