NATCHITOCHES – All-Americans, individual conference champions and key pieces of team championships.
The 2024 Northwestern State N-Club Hall of Fame class already had decorated resumes ahead of their induction into the school's athletic shrine. The 15 members of the Class of 2024, however, can add another bullet point as they have been named the Exchange Bank and Trust Demon Greats of the Game for Saturday's Homecoming game against Lamar.
The group officially will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at 8:30 a.m. Saturday inside A.A. Fredericks Auditorium before being honored at Saturday's game. A reception will begin at 8 a.m. in the auditorium lobby.
The members of the class include track and field All-American sprinter Edgar Cooper and All-American javelin thrower Samantha Ford Hatten as well as Southland Conference champion high jumper Janice Miller Moore.
The 11 other competitive-ballot members of the class all helped Northwestern capture Southland Conference crowns during their careers.
Representing their programs as they enter the Hall of Fame are tennis' Olga Bazhaova Moore, football's Nathan Black, Gene Tennison and the late Kurt Rodriguez, men's basketball's Michael Byars-Dawson, women's basketball's Diamond Cosby Frierson, soccer's Hillarie Marshall Coleman, softball's Shannon Straty Heid and baseball's Troy Conkle, Matt Donner and Brad Hanson.
Joining the competitive-ballot inductees is Distinguished Service Award winner Carlos Treadway, a former Demon tight end who earned induction into the university's Long Purple Line in 2022.
The Exchange Bank and Trust Demon Great of the Game program is in its second decade of honoring former Northwestern State student-athletes and staff members. Exchange Bank and Trust has been a key supporter of NSU Athletics throughout its long history as the oldest financial institution in Louisiana.
