NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State tennis junior Ayu Ishibashi was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday as voted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. 

Ishibashi recorded the tying point against Tulane in both singles and doubles. She won on doubles court No. 3, 6-1, with partner Honoka Umeda, before earning the tying score in singles on No. 4, 6-1, 7-5 against Jiayun Zhu. 

It is the second career SLC Player of the Week honor for Ishibashi, who also was selected in March 2022. 

Posted 12-6 in singles last season, earning her Second-Team No. 2 Singles. 

Ishibashi and the Lady Demons being a 12 match homestand Friday at 2 p.m. against LSU-Alexandria.
