NATCHITOCHES – A record-setting performance and a conference-awarded one top the list of the Demon Brothers Booster Club Players of the Week, presented by Allegiance HealthCare.

Wide receiver Zach Patterson earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after setting a Northwestern State single-game record with 15 receptions in Saturday's 41-14 win at Texas A&M-Commerce.

Patterson's reception total included a 22-yard touchdown reception that brought him to the precipice of the school's top 10 in single-season scoring catches.

Through nine games, Patterson leads the Demons with 70 receptions, the third-highest single-season mark in school history.

Senior safety PJ Herrington earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, adding that to the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week award he took home Monday. Herrington also picked up honorable mention for the FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.

Herrington stuffed the stat sheet against Texas A&M-Commerce, recording four tackles, two pass breakups, one sack, one tackle for loss and a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown. It was the Demons' first interception return for a touchdown since Shemar Bartholomew did so at Sam Houston on Nov. 16, 2019.

It marks the second time in Herrington's Demon career he had an interception and at least half a sack in the same game.

Sarkodie, a junior linebacker from Arlington, Texas, earned his first weekly honor this season for his work on the Demon kick coverage unity.

Northwestern State, the Southland Conference leaders, returns to action Saturday at 4 p.m. when they face Southeastern in Hammond. A win would clinch at least a share of the Southland Conference championship for the Demons.
