Incoming N-Club Hall of Famer Locks named Demon Great of the Game for Homecoming matchup

NATCHITOCHES – Roy Locks will have a busy Homecoming Saturday.
 
Locks, the 2002 Southland Conference football Defensive Player of the Year, will start his day as part of the N-Club Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and will continue it as the Exchange Bank and Trust Demon Great of the Game during Saturday's 1 p.m. matchup with Southeast Missouri State.
 
Locks will be honored on the field during a first-quarter timeout of the matchup against the Redhawks.
 
A two-sport standout at Northwestern State from 1999-2003, Locks started all 47 games in his career while playing linebacker and defensive end, helping lead the Demons to a pair of FCS Playoff appearances.
 
Locks was named the Southland's top defensive player in 2002 after recording 16.5 tackles for loss, including 10 sacks, among his 70 tackles. He finished his career with 224 tackles, including 37.5 for loss.
 
His 18.5 sacks are tied for fourth in Northwestern State career history, earning him a spot on NSU's Top 100 Demon Players of All-Time roster.
 
Locks also made an impact as part of the NSU track and field program, throwing the shot put as part of the 2001 indoor and 2002 outdoor conference championship teams.
 
Following the conclusion of his football career, Locks remained on the Demon staff as an assistant coach.
 
The Exchange Bank Demon Great of the Game program is in its second decade of honoring former Northwestern State student-athletes and staff members. Exchange Bank and Trust and has been a key supporter of NSU Athletics throughout its long history as the oldest financial institution in Louisiana.
