NATCHITOCHES – Whenever Northwestern State has had a track meet this, a Demon sprinter has come home with a weekly Southland Conference honor.

Junior Brandon Letts became the second Demon sprinter to win the Hercules Tires SLC Male Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday as voted by the league's sports information directors.

Letts won the 60 meters at LSU's Louisiana Invitational on Friday with a 6.82, tying his career best.

The victory and the weekly honor is his first in his NSU collegiate career, highlighting an NSU sprints group that finished 1-2-4 in the 60 meters finals in a field of nine Louisiana teams.

Letts' 6.82 is tied for second best on the team and in the SLC this season and is part of the No. 8 squad nationally in the 60 meters. NSU is averaging 6.82 among its top four runners.

The Canadian follows Kie'Ave Harry's weekly honor after Harry took the Ted Nelson Invitational 60 meters with a 6.74.
