NATCHITOCHES -- In the midst of one of the most complicated seasons Northwestern State tennis has ever had to endure, there was an air of simplicity to Tuesday's events for the Lady Demons.  

Northwestern State, eager to take to the courts and do what it does best following nearly a month of schedule alterations, finally got its shot to make a statement today against No. 8-ranked NAIA LSU-Alexandria.  

NSU made short work of LSUA this afternoon, notching a spotless 7-0 victory over the Generals.  

Doubles marked the most difficult point of the day for the Lady Demons. The Patrycja Polanska-Mariella Minetti duo playing at the top slot had a slow start to the day and fell behind their competition 5-2 following regulation scoring for their set, yet were able to bridge the gap and take their set in an 8-6 tiebreaker final. The two and three slots made short work of their competition, as the Emilija Dancetovic- Dorota Szczygielska (6-0) and Judit Castillo Gargallo- Viktorie Wojcikova (6-3) pairings took their respective points with little difficulty.  

With doubles clinched, the Lady Demons refused to take their foot off the gas and left LSUA in the dust, winning all singles matches in straight sets and notching a home- opening victory. No singles game throughout the match would go beyond two sets. Dancetovic, following her doubles sweep, only allowed a single game to be won by LSUA (Johanna Brauer) against her throughout the day's competition. In similar fashion, Minetti also only allowed a single game recorded against her in singles, defeating Darija Mladenovic 6-0, 6-1.  

The Lady Demons continue competition this week at home as they open Southland Conference play against Lamar (3-2) at 1 p.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10-1) on Sunday at 11 a.m.
