CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Olivia Sipes and
Payten Vidourek led Northwestern State's efforts Friday at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Sipes set the pace for the Lady Demons with a 40
th-place finish in the 60-runner field.
The junior clocked a 25:44.66 in the 6K race, shaving more than three minutes off her 2019 time in the last championship event in which she competed.
The women placed last in the eight-team conference field with 229 points, finishing behind Southeastern (210).
The other four Lady Demons finished between 48
th and 57
th, just a step behind SLU runners who clustered in the low and mid-40s.

Jazz Rasouliyan (27:26.73) finished 48
th, sophomore
Leah Thompson (28:37.66) came in 54
th, junior
Erin Wilson (55
th) clocked a 28:45.67 and
Janeen Cullen (29:16.66) placed 57
th.
Host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (56 points) edged New Orleans (57 points) for the women's team title while UIW's Abby Gray won the individual crown with a 21:30.39.
Vidourek set the pace for the Demons with a 42
nd-place finish in a 65-runner field.
He clocked a 27:49.30 in the 8K race, improving from his 85
th-place finish as a freshman in the 2019 conference championship meet.
The Demons finished last in the eight-team field with 220 points, narrowly missing seventh-place Nicholls (209 points).

Xavier Wilson turned in at 46
th with a 28:32.52 with freshman
Blake Glorioso (28:42.24) close in tow in 50
th and fellow freshman

Dextrell Parks was NSU's fifth scorer in 61

Nicholls' lead runner finished 33
rd with another cluster of scorers in the 40s.
McNeese built a comfortable edge (47 points) en route to a team title over No. 2 UIW (65 points). Southeastern's Bradley Makuvire won the individual title at 24:11.44.
