Demon baseball locker room undergoes facelift

By Jason Pugh, Assistant AD for Media Relations

NATCHITOCHES – New decade, new look for the Northwestern State baseball locker room.

The space inside the Northwestern State athletic fieldhouse has been reborn with an offseason facelift, driven by donations and executed through partnerships with Quattro Graphics. Included in the overhaul were the addition of new graphics around the top of the locker room, paying homage to several of the program’s top players.

Each of the lockers were repainted, the flooring was replaced with new carpeting featuring a large NSU state logo and four televisions were added and hung in a central location, allowing each player the ability to watch comfortably.

This project could not have been accomplished without the assistance of our donors and the long hours put in by our staff. We wanted to make the locker room a place our team would feel at home and something to help instill pride in our players. Their reactions to seeing it for the first time were well worth the effort.

The overhaul did not remain confined to the interior of the locker room as the hallway outside the room also took on a new look.

Following the lead of the Demon football draft board upstairs, there is a new chrome, arched-designed display that highlights NSU’s Major League Baseball draftees, All-Americans, all-conference players and individual award winners.

The renovation also allowed Demon baseball to showcase and honor some of its greatest players inside the locker room. Ringing two of the four walls above the refurbished lockers are photos of All-Americans Ryan Anholt and Adam Oller along with former major leaguer Brian Lawrence and coach Jim Wells, whose arrival in 1990 started a run of nine Southland Conference championships in 16 seasons.
