He's won multiple All-Louisiana Team honors and ranks among NSU's top throwers in each of his events. Cedric's father, Clifford, is a Demon football and track and field alumni. (Head coach and throws coach Mike Heimerman's comments) "His four years have flown by. It seems like he just got here. He's won conference championships, he's made more podium appearances, and he's been right outside the podium a couple more times. He's scored a lot of points for us in Southland championships. He's had a very, very good career at Northwestern State. He moved up to third in the all-time shot put rankings, and he qualified for the national championships this year. This is what all the hard work is for, to ultimately end up here in Eugene, so that's awesome. He's also top five in the discus and hammer in school history, after having PRs in all three of his events this season. Cedric has had a great career and ending it here at the national championships is a very appropriate reward. He's a great young man who is so deeply respected by his teammates. They were thrilled to see him qualify for nationals. That is only for the elite competitors and he has been that for NSU. He's got a job already lined up after he graduates this fall, and he'll tackle the real world and have a great life. We will miss Cedric Paul very, very deeply."
