FORT WORTH, Texas – The Northwestern State women's tennis team wrapped up TCU's Haunted Horn Frog Classic by adding a pair of wins and losses to its tournament singles record, finishing 4-5 overall.
Both wins came in flight six as
Polina Ivanova defeated Texas A&M's Dorthea Faa-Hviding 6-3, 7-6(3), to bump her singles record to 4-3.
Polina Mutel was also victorious in her bout with Rice's Sofie Moenster , collecting a 6-3, 6-3, win to push her overall fall singles record to 4-1.
NSU's
Elzbieta Iwaniuk and
Judit Castillo both took losses courtesy of Horned Frogs. Iwaniuk fell 6-4, 6-4 to Elizabeth Tedford in the third flight, while Marie Norris downed Castillo 6-3, 6-2.
Rice University had the singles flight one and flight three champions, as Priya Niezgoda and Fernanda Astete both collected titles for the Owls.
In the doubles finals, Middle Tennessee State had two flight championships with Costanza Magazzini and Lidia Burrows taking the first flight, and the combination of Luisa Zirilli/Maria Josefina owning the third flight.
