Lady Demons tennis aims for rebound against 4-0 Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – The Northwestern States women's tennis team travels to face Tulane Saturday, as the Lady Demons hunt for a bounce back performance against the red-hot 4-0 Green Wave.

In NSU's dual play opener, No. 19 LSU showed their power as one of the nation's best, taking down the Lady Demons 7-0.

Junior Polina Ivanova will look to build on her strong, albeit losing performance against LSU's Joana Valle Costa in the No. 1 position, where she pushed Costa to a twelve-game first set and ten-game second set.

Finding a way to get back to .500 will be no easy task for third-year head coach Olga Bazhanova. Two Green Wave players are 4-0 in singles to start the year and the team as a whole has only dropped three points in the first four contests.

"We are expecting a tough match against this team, Bazhanova said. "We learned several things after last week's loss that we need to improve on and hopefully do better this time. Tulane is a very talented, tough and well coached team - we have to play aggressive and take chances when we create opportunities."

Play will open with doubles beginning at 11 a.m. and singles matches to follow. All action will take place at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.
