NATCHITOCHES – After posting a triple jump that is a career best and currently tops nationally, Northwestern State senior All-American Emmanuel Williams was voted the Southland Conference Track and Field Male Field Events Athlete of the Week Wednesday.
 
Williams soared 51-9 last Saturday to win at the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech. It was the outdoor debut for him and his twin, Aaron Williams, who was close behind with a 51-7 ¾ mark that currently stands third nationally two weeks into the outdoor season.
 
The winning performance was one of 13 first places by NSU competitors, best by any of the five participating schools:  McNeese, UL Monroe, Southern, Louisiana Tech and NSU.
 
The Williams twins are from Duson and graduated from Acadiana High School. They will join the NSU team Saturday at the Bobby Lane Invitational hosted by UT Arlington, and will be competing at home April 8-9 at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.
