NATCHITOCHES – Discounted tickets supporting four local non-profit organizations are on sale until gameday for Thursday's "White Out Game" presented by Midsouth Bank as the Northwestern State football team kicks off the 2014 season at home in Turpin Stadium against Missouri State.
Fans are urged to wear white clothing or gear Thursday to support the Demons, who will be in white uniforms at home for the first time in Turpin Stadium's history dating back to the mid-1970s.
Purchases of $10 general admission tickets can be made by Wednesday from representatives of the Women's Resource Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Natchitoches, the Natchitoches Leo Club and the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce. Half the ticket price benefits the non-profit organization.
Discounted advance tickets are not available through NSU. The NSU ticket office at the athletic fieldhouse opens at 9 a.m. on Thursday, with ticket windows and gates at Turpin Stadium opening two hours before the 6 o'clock kickoff.
Single-game ticket prices are $20 for reserved chairbacks on the west side lower deck, $15 for general admission adults, and $10 general admission for youth 15 and under. Group rates are available in advance through the NSU ticket office (318-357-5251). Purchases can be made before game day online at NSUDemons.com on the "tickets" button.
The NSU Alumni Association's Tailgating Party starts at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Collins Family Pavilion, with a $5 charge for all-you-can-eat food and free drinks. The event is free for NSU Alumni Association members.
After 3:30 Thursday afternoon, a fee of $10 per car will be collected for parking on the south side of campus, including the Prather Coliseum parking lot south of the stadium. NSU season ticket holders and most Demons Unlimited Fund members should have received their complimentary season parking passes, and if not, should contact the NSU athletic department before Thursday at 318-357-5251.
Those with handicapped tags on their vehicles, after presenting their NSU football parking pass or paying the parking fee, may access special parking immediately behind the two-decked west side of Turpin Stadium Thursday afternoon and on every NSU home football gameday.
With high temperatures forecast Thursday afternoon, patrons are urged to stay hydrated throughout the day. Ample supplies of water will be available at stadium concession stands.
Fans are advised that NSU is using daily rounds of insecticide spray to combat the seasonal mayflies and mosquitos in the area.
Thursday's game is the first of five home contests this season for the Demons. The next one is Oct. 11, homecoming for the university.
