NATCHITOCHES – After they helped secure a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament on Thursday, seniors Trudy Armstead and Meredith Graf will lead the Northwestern State women's basketball team into the final regular season game Saturday looking to earn a first-round tourney bye with a win against Oral Roberts in Prather Coliseum at 1 o'clock.

NSU (17-12, 10-7 SLC) is set to honor Armstead, Graf and Jasmine Bradley on Senior Day for their careers as Lady Demons in pregame ceremonies scheduled for 10 minutes before tipoff. It clinched a spot in the league tournament with a 77-45 win over conference-leader Central Arkansas. The Lady Demons can finish as high as fourth with a win and Nicholls loss, or as low as seventh.

Oral Roberts (9-18, 8-9 SLC) also clinched a spot on Thursday. It will enter the tournament as the eighth seed.

The two programs faced each other on Jan. 25, and Oral Roberts capitalized on cold shooting by Northwestern State. Keisha Lee scored 25 of NSU's 51 points but the Lady Demons were held to 26 percent aim, the lowest of the season.

In Thursday's game against UCA, who dipped into in a three-way tie for first place, NSU was 34-of-59 (58 percent) from the field and 19-31 (61 percent) in the second half alone. The victory extended NSU's win streak to three, which equals the season's longest streak.

Armstead led all scorers in the game with 16 points. She leads NSU in scoring (14.2 points per game) and rebounding (6.1 rebounds per game) for the season. Lee (14.1 ppg) and Janelle Perez (10.2 ppg) both average in double figures this season.

The Lady Demons average 64 points per game on 42 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent shooting from 3-point range. They allow opponents to score 62.9 points per game on 39 percent shooting.

Christian Key leads ORU with 14.0 points per game followed by Kaylan Mayberry with 10.5 per game. Sarah Shelton averages a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game.

The women's bracket of the league tournament starts on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the fifth and eighth seeds. The sixth and seventh seeds will face each other at 1:30. If NSU earns the fourth seed, it would play the winner of game one at 11 on Friday.
